Hello everyone!
How have you been?
Today we are going to talk about Tet. Tet is the “Vietnamese Lunar New Year” and it is the most important and exciting long holiday in Vietnam. It marks the arrival of spring festival. People are busy preparing this event especially before the pandemic happened. They parade, deliver or give tangerines for this celebration.
Before the Lunar New Year arrives, they visit the cemetery to remember their loved ones. In addition, they visit their friends and relatives. Some people choose to go back to their hometown and spend 10-15 days with their families.
For Vietnamese, Tet is mostly a private family celebration. On the eve of the new year, families gather to eat a sumptuous dinner and exchange good wishes and gifts.
Our Vietnamese students also get themselves busy by helping their parents clean the house for visitors. The evening hours are spent on chatting, playing, singing karaoke, and enjoying traditional snacks, dessert, and candy.
See you in next blog.
